Vogue’s fashion night out – Superdry

I’ve been working hard recently and enjoying spending a fair amount of time after work socialising and so my blog has been neglected a little (okay a lot). But I recently went along to Vogue’s Fashion Night Out on the 23rd of September, an evening where Regent’s Street, Oxford Street and the surrounding area came alive after hours with added attractions for shoppers and bloggers alike.

Bringing Balearic To East London

Solillas Boxpark

Throw out your espadrilles, fling those Birkenstocks into the bag of discarded and unloved sandals that you keep at the back of your wardrobe (admit it, we all have an overflow bag of shoes). Solillas has arrived in London armed with huge amounts of Balearic charm and beauty. Continue reading

Found! But then sold out…

I have realised that my beloved cowboy boots are on their way out. The (faux) leather is peeling (so lovely) at the toes and are starting to let heavy rain in when once they were the perfect summer boot for showers.

So I thought perhaps a new pair for my up-coming birthday. Great. I never have many things I really want so a new shiny pair of boots for the summer would be just the ticket.

Until I found them. Continue reading

Pick of the sale items

In an attempt to stop the temptation of shopping I am merely going to  show some of the sale items currently on offer that have caught my eye recently. Repeat after me… I will not buy everything….I will not buy everything…I will not…oh maybe just the one then 😉

Blouses and why I can never leave TK Maxx without at least one…

When I have an afternoon off for running errands I invariably end up having a little look in TK Maxx. And more times than not I walk out with at least one blouse. And this week was no different. Three blouses. Each was under £20.

Hi top trainers: 1 pair is not enough

I finally got a pair of hi top wedge trainers just after Christmas, my heavy hints failed to turn into a Christmas present so I bought them myself for half price (before they sold out).

I have started with a subtle pair. All black with a slight wedge to give me a little extra height as well as making them good for casual days out, the office and, depending on the outfit, nights out.

And at £25 I feel they are the perfect entry-level hi top. A kind of gateway trainer to a whole collection, nay family of ultra comfy hi tops.

Yes, I now have a massive weakness. Continue reading

Post everything slump…

Christmas, New Years and a holiday have all rushed past leaving me in a strange mood as I attempt to finish my first full week back at work since the beginning of December.

My overwhelming spending desire seems diminished and I am struggling to put together outfits for work from my bulging wardrobe.

This morning as I walked to work I tried to think what was causing this. Was it post-Christmas/New Year/Holiday blues? Then it hit me. I missed the simplicity of living out of a suitcase. It sounds a little odd but think about it for a moment.Living out of a suitcase

I try to travel light and take only the essentials. I long ago realised that packing 3 or 4 party dresses when I’m off to stay with relatives or in very cold weather just isn’t needed.

When I travel I pack only what I will wear and Continue reading

Sale items for now…and next season

It is all too easy to fall into the trap of buying clothes that are really only suited to one time of the year, i.e.  Christmas and the party season. Shops are packed full of discounted sparkly jumpers and dresses that although beautiful are not much good if they end up languishing at the back of the wardrobe for most of the year, constantly vying for your attention with their festive glitter but looking so out-of-place in Spring and even Autumn.

I’m trying to keep a sensible hat on this year. Stick to buying items that I need in my wardrobe or as my friend Jess suggests in her sale pick post, replacing items that are now worn out. By choosing items that can be layered for cold weather or teamed with different accessories to suit the time of year I’ll end up wearing them more and really getting my money’s worth.

Last Friday of 2012 – Out with Friends

Dressing up to go out for dinner

As part of my new resolution (nothing to do with the upcoming New Year) to wear more of the clothes I own and sod what some people may think (take note bf) I am finally giving my leopard print dress an outing. I bought it in the sales months ago and never found an occasion that I thought would Continue reading

Envy and other women

Walking through the train station this morning I am faced with walking behind a woman who is immaculately turned out from top to toe. Her boots are the ones I would love to own, they scream sophistication and elegance. Her black jeans fit perfectly and have no creases. Her long funnel neck black wool coat tops off the look giving her a slick polished look. Feminine but smart.

The Devil Wears Prada

If someone were to edit her into the scene in The Devil Wears Prada where Anne Hathaway walks across the road in her variety of newly made-over outfits this woman would not look out-of-place. Do it with me most mornings and I’m sure people would stare and think “who the heck is the bag lady?” Continue reading
